Year 2

Spring Term


Reading - We will be reading The Diary of a Killer Cat and practising phonic knowledge, blending, ordering and sequencing events and developing our inference skills. We will also be looking at how writers portray characters.


Art/Design and Technology - We will be designing and making a healthy packed lunch using our knowledge of a healthy diet from our Science topic.


Geography/History - 'Nurturing Nurses' We will be exploring the lives of Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale. We will compare and contrast their life stories and how medicine has changed over time.


Science - 'Animals Including Humans' We will look at how animals are classified and we will explore the lifecycles of animals including humans. We will explore how to keep ourselves healthy through exercise, diet and hygiene.


Writing - We will be writing a journey tale using a variety of settings. We will continue to work on capital letters, full stops and commas for lists. We aim to develop the children's understanding of the contracted form, sentence of three and expanded noun phrases.


Maths - This half term we will be looking at counting money and making amounts using £ and p. We will also be looking at multiplication and division by grouping and sharing.


Computing - We will be looking at how to make art using a variety of programmes.


Religious Education - 'Gospel' What is good news? We will be learning how Christians receive good news through the bible and prayer.
