“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
1 Peter 4:10

Autumn Term

In the Autumn term we learnt the story of Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle. The children enjoyed learning the actions to this story and making puppets of the characters. We explored the season 'Autumn' through an Autumn walk where the children collected objects like pinecones, conkers, acorns and crispy leaves.

After half term we explored the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. The children acted out the story around the classroom and in the outdoor area using objects from around the garden to represent aspects of the journey.

The children also took part in a dance for a whole school virtual Nativity performance.

In Maths, children learnt to count groups of objects, to represent numbers to 5 on a fives frame and to recognise numbers in our environment.

Spring Term

In the Spring term we explored 'Peace at Last' by Jill Murphy. The children acted out the story sequence and drew their own story maps. We also explored the season of Spring. This included reading about new born animals and flowering plants.

After half term we read 'The Enormous Turnip'. The children enjoyed acting out this story when pulling the turnip out of the ground. We talked about the message behind the story, that everyone is important and if everyone helps the task can be achieved.

As part of our Spring learning the children planted beans and learnt how to look after their own plants. The children put the pot in the sunlight and watered the bean to watch it grow. Some children have continued growing their plant at home.

Summer Term

In the Summer term we explored 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. The children enjoyed using actions to tell the story. They explored different sizes in Maths using big, middle and small and compared the different sized objects.

In Maths we have explored numbers to ten and addition using maths apparatus to support learning.

We celebrated the Queens 95th birthday and listened to the national anthem. The children listened to the story of St George and the dragon and acted it out on St George's day as a class.

Next term we are going to read 'Handa's Surprise'. We will use this to explore different fruits, how they taste and where they come from around the world. We will also explore the season Summer by going on a Summer walk around the outdoor areas.
