In the Spring term we continue to look at Winter, talking about the weather and exploring how it affects our outside area. This year we spotted frost, ice and were able to see our breath when outside. We explore the effects of the changing seasons on the natural world around us.
Our talk for writing focus this half term is 'We're going on a bear hunt'. This is often one of the most popular stories we explore. The children learn how to follow a story map using actions telling the story. The children create their own story maps and create their own stories based on this learning. The children have enjoyed going on their own bear hunts around the classroom and outside. The children often take this learning into their play, for example, making a cave for the bear using play dough or painting a picture of the bear.
In maths we are exploring patterns. We have used the peg boards to demonstrate this within our classrooms. The children are able to copy a pattern and make their own repeating pattern using their maths and fine motor skills. We are also looking at part whole models and ten frames to develop our learning of number and number bonds.
