“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Autumn Term

In Nursery we learnt about Autumn and the changing seasons. The children enjoyed going on an Autumn walk to find objects which showed us the seasons were changing - such as crunchy fallen leaves, pinecones and conkers! We used our findings to make artwork such as leaf rubbings and lead printing.

Lots of the children found conkers whilst on our Autumn walk, so we made some edible conkers out of cream cheese and bourbon biscuits. The children enjoyed mixing the ingredients together and eating them at the end.

After half term we looked at Winter and Christmas. We went on an icy Winter walk and talked about the changes we saw from our last Autumn walk. We then learnt about the Christmas story and why Christmas is celebrated.

Spring Term

During the first part of Spring term our topic was the colours of a rainbow. We learnt all about rainbows, how they are made and the colours that make up a rainbow. We explored colours and what happens when you mix colours together.

After half term we focused on The Very Hungry Caterpillar and even looked after our own caterpillars which hatched into butterflies! We read the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and came up with actions to help us remember the story. By the end of half term the children were able to tell the story using actions.

Summer Term

This half term we will be looking at beaches, we will be learning all about the animals you can find on a beach and also that not all beaches are sandy. We have so far investigated shells, crabs and talked about our own experiences of going to a beach.
